Crooked Cottages

This all started about a year ago when I found this funky piece of drift-wood on the beach and the more I looked at it, I kept seeing these little houses . One thing lead to another and I started making and creating what I call my "Crooked Cottages".

I first find the back drop, start laying pieces of wood on it, deciding what will be: the house, the roof, windows, and doors. Once that is done, I then take it all off paint the background . Next I glue the houses on and start painting. Sometime I find this great piece and then it will come to me "It's the roof"!!.

All the material is found washed up on the beaches of St. John.
My only problem now is when I go to the beach all I see is windows , doors ,and roofs.

I started painting about 35 years ago when my youngest of 5 children was at home in Mississippi to keep myself busy. Not to say insane!! I later wound up in Texas opened up a Dress Shop and for 18 years that became my palette. I didn't pick up a brush again till my husband Bob and I moved here almost 4 years ago.

It's fun to be creative again!!!
